Walsh Protocol & Biochemical Imbalances

Dr. Schaeffer-Pautz, MD of Persephone Healing Arts Center in North Jacksonville Beach, Florida is Board Certified in Integrative & Internal Medicine.

After several years of clinical application, Dr. Pautz has found that individualized assessment and careful fine-tuning are essential—each person’s biochemistry is unique and may influence health in different ways. She completed Walsh Practitioner training in April 2026.

Walsh Practitioner

The Walsh Method has been one of the more meaningful additions to Dr. Pautz’s medical practice.

Developed by Dr. William Walsh, PhD and the Walsh Research Institute, this approach is based on decades of research exploring how certain biochemical patterns—including nutrient balance, trace minerals, and methylation status—may influence mental and emotional well-being.

Using patient history (“biotyping”), clinical assessment, and selected laboratory testing, the Walsh Method seeks to identify and address biochemical imbalances as one component of individualized care.

Areas where this approach may be considered include:

  • Anxiety, depression, and panic symptoms
  • ADHD and behavioral concerns in children and adults
  • Mood instability and emotional dysregulation including violent behavior in children
  • Oppositional behaviors
  • Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
  • Postpartum depression, anxiety, panic attacks & psychosis
  • PTSD and emotional dysregulation
  • Early cognitive or memory concerns

Preliminary research has also explored possible applications in autism spectrum conditions and certain neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s Multiple Sclerosis, ALS (Lougherig;s disease. However, evidence remains evolving.

Dr. Walsh’s work has additionally examined biochemical factors related to behavior in correctional settings, reflecting the broader idea that biology can influence emotional regulation and human functioning.

Response to treatment varies. Some patients notice changes within weeks, while others experience more gradual progress over several months.

In Dr. Pautz’s clinical experience, some patients have reported improvements in emotional well-being, focus, resilience, and overall quality of life when biochemical imbalances were addressed as part of a broader treatment plan.

Dr. Walsh’s work has even extended to correctional institutions, where he has helped demonstrate that biochemical balancing can play a role in reducing violent behavior—a reminder of how biology, behavior, and compassion are deeply connected.

Dr. Pautz has also observed that, in some individuals, addressing biochemical patterns may coincide with improvement in certain physical symptoms. These observations reflect clinical experience and are not part of formal Walsh training.

Selected Clinical Observations

Examples from practice (individual experiences; results vary):

  • A 79-year-old patient’s spouse reported: “I finally have the woman back I knew from two years ago.”
  • A 17-year-old patient experienced meaningful improvement in ADHD and anxiety symptoms within weeks and continued to do well at six months.
  • A 5-year-old child with autism experienced fewer severe temper episodes after changes to supplements, with recurrence when the previous supplement regimen was restarted.

Dr. Pautz has also observed that, in some individuals, addressing biochemical patterns may coincide with improvement in certain physical symptoms. These observations reflect clinical experience and are not part of formal Walsh training.

My gratitude to the many talented artists on PixaBay that have offered their art work to be used. I could not captured any of it any better, neither in words nor photography, nor painting. Thank you!
