Storytelling with Elaine Charles

PAST EVENT:

We had the most lovely storytelling time with a small and intimate circle of attendees. Elaine read a favorite from her Dad from the Alps in Europe: The Little Lady and the Edelweiss tale, with Mr. Gruber being a main character having to learn a few things about generosity and community. A lot of commonality to some parts of the Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily that Dr. Pautz will be reading December 19.

Come join us for a storytelling afternoon with Elaine Charles to welcome the holiday season!

Friday, December 5th, 4:30-6 pm at Persephone Healing Arts Center in Jacksonville Beach

This special event is for children, teens, adults, and families. Elaine Charles, who has been leading our monthly meditative drumming hour at Persephone for almost a year, brings her passion for storytelling to this gathering. A retired arts teacher, Elaine delights in sharing stories that inspire, heal, and spark the imagination.

Storytelling nurtures the soul and imagination, kindling hope, courage, and creative solutions for real-life challenges. It can deepen meditative awareness and serve as a guiding light for both children and adults. True stories have the power to comfort, heal, and uplift — making this afternoon a gift of connection, reflection, and joy for all who attend.

Storytelling for children and families at Persephone Healing Arts center in Jacksonville Beach Florida

Storytelling is a profound way of nurturing spiritual connections for children and adults alike.

Past: The Storytelling event with Elaine at the Literary Indulgence of the Jacksonville Book Festival

https://www.healthylivingflorida.com/2025/05/30/533428/annual-literary-festival-brings-books-and-community-together

is scheduled for June 28, 2025, at Friday Musicale (645 Oak St., Jacksonville, FL 32204). This event will feature author and reader presentations, a mixer, and more. It’s a chance to meet authors, discover new books, and connect with fellow book lovers.

Elaine is scheduled to do one session at 11 am and another one at 1 pm.

She has done a storytelling event last year at Persephone and her style is unique. She does not just tell the story but she partially enacts it and moves and expresses the content of the story.

As a retires art school teacher, putting enthusiasm as vital as vivid storytelling to help form the fantasy of children and adults alike seems such and important task today.

Here is some other excerpt about Storytelling

Storytelling creates creativity, nurturing and personalizing narratives. One of the most important aspects in true storytelling is the impregnation of ethical and moral values, the endurance and sticking it out for a resolution of stressors that goes on. In Dr. Pautz’s viewpoint, through any true storytelling, there is a golden thread of a teaching of a virtue or a morale. It is never about just passing time but always about character shaping and “food for the soul” in times of trials and tribulation. The hope for resolution. For the good to prevail. It can generate ideas, explore new directions, and even tailor stories to individual preferences.

It can describe characters that in real life we can often find fit in real people we know.

It is like meditation, realigning to a higher good. True storytelling. Always hope.

"Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship."

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
