Both syndromes are interesting in so far as the complaints of the patient have sometimes quite limited findings on physical exam by the health care provider and maybe disproportionate to the patient’s complaints and reduction in quality of life.

Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may be defined as chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas. Quality of sleep, mood and overall well being are typically severely reduced. These symptoms may have a gradual onset over time or be precipitated by physical or emotional trauma.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, may in its extreme manifestation at times be a debilitating disorder. It typically presents with profound fatigue that is often not improved by rest and sleep. It may be worsened by physical or mental activity. Different organ systems can be involved in one way or another.

Both disorders are fascinating, as they may involve emotional aspects that typically cannot be addressed through drug treatment or physical approaches alone Dr. Pautz feels that emotional trauma that has not been fully resolved at the time of insult, may push into the physical body and will need to be uplifted into the emotional and thinking realm where they may be looked at, blessed, forgiven, or be moved upon.
Physical nurturing with naturopathic tools such as water applications, massage therapy, counseling, exercise, water intake, wholesome nutrition using all organic foods are just a few of the modalities that Dr. Pautz may include in the treatment plan for a patient that may present with these symptoms.
