Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Thoughts on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR):

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction can be practiced anywhere at any time: No mantra, no prayer. No meditation. No lotus position or any other particular position.

It is an awareness of the present moment in total OPENNESS and non- judgemental. It can be practiced in any physical position. Sitting, standing, kneeling, working, making yourself a cup of coffee, sitting in traffic at the light stop with your hands on the wheel. It is a total practice and focus on the present moment, OPEN and NON-judgemental. Present to the sensory perception, air, sound, feeling how the wind touches your skin, or the warmth of the sun,or the heat from the fire or air conditioning. Below is a list of some of the things that can be seen with regular practice of MBSR techniques. Stress reduction, decreased pain, decreased anxiety, depression, and panicky, or better management thereof. Decreased symptoms from a real or perceived medical issue. Better ability to not get stuck in negative thoughts and feelings. More kindness towards yourself (and others). Improved sense of well-being. The practice is that the grief or pain or any other life circumstance are still there, but there are less influential of how you feel about them. Like a little distanced.
Simply doing a body scan starting with the feet, and moving up, can be a start. Look it up on the web and maybe you find a way to incorporate it. It does not need to add any time commitment to your day and yet can be subtle and profound.
