Both syndromes are interesting in so far as the complaints of the patient have sometimes quite limited findings on physical exam by the health care provider and may be disproportionate to the patient’s complaints and reduction in quality of life.

Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may defined as chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas. Quality of sleep, mood and overall well being are typically severely reduced. These symptoms may have a gradual onset over time or be precipitated by physical or emotional trauma.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, may in its extreme manifestation at times be a debilitating disorder. It typically presents with profound fatigue that is often not improved by rest and sleep. It may be worsened by physical or mental activity. Different organ systems can be involved in one way or another.

Both disorders are fascinating, as they may involve emotional aspects that typically cannot be addressed through drug treatment or physical approaches alone Dr. Pautz feels that emotional trauma that has not been fully resolved at the time of insult, may push into the physical body and will need to be uplifted into the emotional and thinking realm where they may be looked at, blessed, forgiven, or be moved upon.

Physical nurturing with naturopathic tools such as water applications, massage therapy, counseling, exercise, water intake, wholesome nutrition using all organic foods are just a few of the modalities that Dr. Pautz may include in the treatment plan for a patient that may present with these symptoms.

“I have suffered from Fibromyalgia for over 15 years. As anyone knows who has dealt with fibro, sometimes I was horribly ill and at other times, I was not so bad. But all in all, I was getting progressively worse. I sought medical help from several sources including a general practitioner, orthopedist, rheumatologist, and massage therapist, but all I got was a quick office visit and prescriptions for various medications that only masked the problem but never made it better. Through much reading I realized that there were many levels to fibromyalgia and that it needed to be treated not only physically but emotionally, spiritually and nutritionally . I read about physicians that were doing this but could not find anyone in my area. Then one day while looking on the web I came across Dr. Pautz. Her website said that she had open houses to talk with her and learn about her practice. I knew as soon as I went to the open house that she was indeed very different. Her office does not even look like the typical Doctors office. Amongst many different things, there are many murals and colorful table clothes that decorate the walls\ and tables. I decided that I needed to give her a try. The first time I went to see her we spent three hours together. YES, THREE hours. She actually LISTENED to me and we discussed all the precipitating factors in my life and what I had done to try and treat my fibro. Dr. Pautz actually spent time with me hands on using various natural substances to rub into my skin and muscles and she also gave me some injections. Right after the treatment I felt better but within a few days I was worse than ever. Dr Pautz was only a phone call away and we spent time discussing what I was going through and she reassured me that often things get worse before they get better. And indeed they got better. Little by little the bad days got fewer and fewer and the good days got more frequent and lasted longer. As of this writing I have been pain free for over two weeks which is something that has not happened in over 15 years. I am moving more than I have in years and I am in a much better frame of mind and thinking a lot clearer. I am finally sleeping through the night. I have not received any conventional prescription medications from Dr. Pautz except a few homeopathics and supplements. With her help I am eating mostly organic food, and juicing several days a week. I am drinking more water, even though I was always a good water drinker. Dr. Pautz has spent more time with me than I have spent with doctors my entire life. She is very hands on and has a very healing touch. I have been seeing her every other week for 4 months now. She has totally changed my life. I feel great!”
